Hue lies 650 Km south of Hanoi. The main sight here is the zitadelle with the forbidden city – i.e. the imperial palace. During the US-Vietnamese war heavy fighting – the vietcong held the citatelle for 3 1/2 weeks – resulted in extensive damages to the palaces. Under the protection as a UNESCO world heritage a reconstruction programm is under way since 10 years. Money is scarce and the US do not participate in the funding – guess why!
