Delhi 2020

This is by far not our first trip to India and Delhi so we start visiting some secondary sights in town. One of them is the Hauz Khas complex in South Delhi. There is a water tank, a mosque and a tomb and the oldest structures date back to the 13th century.
Sunder Nursery was established at the beginning of the 20th century on the site of a Mughal garden. It served to propagate trees and plants to be used in the new British capital. In recent times it has been renovated with the help of the Aga Khan Trust.

Next to Sunder Nursery is the beautifuly restored Humayun’s Tomb. Humayun is Baburs son and the second of the Mughal rulers. This magnificent mausoleum was built in the 1560’s with the patronage of his son Akbar. Persian and Indian craftsmen worked together to build the garden-tomb, greander than any tomb built before in the Isalmic world.
Whithin the premisses of Humayun’s tomb there is also the beautifum Tomb of Isa Khan, a nobleman form Kabul.
