Doris insits on attending the Kumbh Mela, the worlds largest religious festival with hundreds of millions attending over the course of a couple of weeks. It is celebrated every three years rotating between four locations. This year the gathering is held at the confluence of the Ganges and the Yamuna which is the most auspicious of the four locations. Mingling among some millions of pilgrims is too much of a crowd for me so she attends with our dear friend Gulzar from Ladakh.

We join at Delhi to venture on Safari in the jungle of central India and visit the famous old caves at Ellora and Ajanta. Afterwards beeing a railroad fan I get my way and we travel the Neral-Matheran mountain Toy Train. Net driving time from Raipur to Bombay Airport was given with 31h for 1’645km. Thankfully much of the way between Nagpur and Neral was on a brand new six lane highway that was not yet connect through the western Ghats to Bombay so traffic was nearly nonexistant.
