Hemis 2020

Hemis Gompa lies up a side valley of the Indus about 45 km from Leh. This monastery is widely known for its spectacular festival honouring Padmasambhava that is held in early June and attracts tourist from around the world.

As I am not allowed to take pictures inside and most of the buildings are closed for winter, I add the pictures I took on my first visit back in 1988.
